Your Car Insurance Rates May Increase If You Plead Guilty To Too Many Traffic Tickets
When you plead guilty to a moving violation, points are added to your driving record. Your car insurance company will see those points on your driving record and may use it as an excuse to increase your insurance rates. (Car insurance companies review your driving record when your insurance policy is up for renewal, or when you buy a new car.)

What If You Receive A Hannibal Red Light Camera Ticket In The Mail But You Were Not The Driver?
Red light camera tickets are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle that was caught on camera running the red light. The tickets are mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.
If you receive a red light camera ticket in the mail but you were not the driver, you can report the driver to the Hannibal Police. They will re-issue a new ticket in the name of the person who was driving your car and will send the new ticket to them.
Here’s how to report the person who was driving your vehicle:
- Fill out the “Nomination Affidavit” attached to your Hannibal red light camera ticket and write in the name and address of the person who was driving your vehicle
- Fax the “Nomination Affidavit” to the Hannibal Police Department
- The Hannibal Police will re-issue a new ticket and mail it to the person who was driving your car when they ran the red light
- Or, you can call the Hannibal Police Department at (573) 221-0987 ext. 354 and ask them to re-issue a new ticket in the name of the person who was driving your vehicle

If your employer lets you know they received a red light camera ticket connected to the truck you were driving, you can ask your employer to fill out the Nomination Affidavit attached to the ticket and send it to the Hannibal Police Department. Then the police will re-issue a new ticket in your name and mail it to you.
Or you can call the Hannibal Police yourself and ask them to re-issue the ticket in your name. They can fax or email the ticket to you, or to your attorney who is representing you for the ticket.
Then your attorney will get your Hannibal red light camera ticket reduced to a non-moving, no-point infraction such as a parking ticket.
What To Do If Your Employer Already Paid The Fine For Your Hannibal Red Light Camera Ticket?
Sometimes a truck driver doesn’t find out they received a red light camera ticket until the points show up on their driving record. This happens when a red light camera ticket is mailed to the employer, who pays the fine without telling the driver.
In that situation, you can hire an attorney to withdraw your guilty plea and get your ticket reduced to a non-moving, no-point violation. Then the points will be removed from your driving record.
